Dewayne Richards

I was born in Nashville, TN also known as Music City in the center of the Volunteer State. Oldest of 10 and the grandson of a preacher it seemed as if my life was somewhat already planned out for me. As a child I dreamed of becoming a doctor, dentist, lawyer, fashion designer, photographer, interior designer, actor, film-Director and even a Talk-Show host,  thanks to Oprah Winfrey. Needless to say my path has been intertwined with many of those listed before and I now know that I hit the Jackpot by becoming a respected influence in Beauty Industry. Taking on my challenges paired with my gift of Beauty through the power of  transformation I have been afforded some amazing career opportunities to work with artists from all over the world.

I have found the trick to the aesthetics of hair and makeup and know that visions are in the eye of the beholder. These tricks can be splashed upon the canvases of the everyday to give brilliant light and color to the unreached places, the neglected places, to bring beauty back to life. For me, beauty and style are not superficial endeavors. For me, they are a chance to touch the “light” within, the one thing that I believe that is in each one of us. I am about excellence, larger than life, quality, connection and putting 100% into everything I commit to.

Officially I began my Journey in the Fall of 2009, but it wasn't until a Super Bowl Sunday party in early 2010 that I began to see the unfolding of a New Vision of my Life. My college friend said “Dewayne! I need you to do my makeup!” “Ok?,” with all the hesitation of a newbie, I agreed.  So we begin, in the women's bathroom of a nightclub, I “Beat” my first face. The before and after transformation of this one woman, who was the hosting the party for her sister, became the talk of the party.  Leaving the woman of the hour insisting that she was going to “Wash her makeup Off and Let me give her a new look. The passion was born.

Since then, my work has been featured in the Tennessean newspaper, Ambassador Magazine (A Goodwill Industries of Tennessee Publication), Queen Magazine, BlackSouthernBelle.com  and Nashville Arts Magazine. I have also been fortunate to work the Stellar Awards Show several times, Black Music Honors Award Show, and a number of different live and recorded productions with clients as far as Vale, Denver, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Washington, D.C, and Jamaica.

Makeup & hair styling can go one of two ways: you can either hide or you can reveal. I am passionate about the big reveal and the feeling that comes over clients when they see themselves in this new light. Known by locals as "Dr. Beauty", my job as a Hair stylist and Makeup Artist – whether the canvas is skin or hair – is to help my clients see the grandest vision of themselves and reveal something that was previously hidden. Not only do I want my clients to see the beauty I see in them, but I want them to see the Beauty that God intended for them to have. So, with purpose and the mind of being intentional I do not stop until that light is discovered.

"It isn’t that there is so little beauty to be found in our world. It’s seeing the beauty that’s there, right in front of us all the time; that’s the trick."
